Management Team
Along with the innovations and new products the company plans to bring to
market, the management team is a critical part of the success of a product.
Past success is perhaps the best indicator of future success. Mergenet’s
management team has had a history of success in bringing medical devices to
market, including two of their devices; the Nasal-Aire Device and the Hybrid
Interface. Since 2001, the company has achieved in the tens of millions in
sales, won “ Innovative Product of the Year” in 2004, received 510K’s as
well as over 90 Patents and Patents Pending, full Medicare re-imbursement
codes, International manufacturing and distribution , produced products that
have helped tens of thousands of patients recover from sleep and respiratory
disorders.
It is this team with Mergenet Medical’s new product pipeline that is
generating enthusiasm in the company and its products.
Robert Landis
Mr. Landis has been Director of Research and Development at Mergenet
Medical, Inc. since 2005. Robert began his career as a Respiratory
Therapist, and has work experience in anesthesia, critical care,
rehabilitation, pediatrics and neonatal care. He gained experience in
management and teaching, which culminated with the position of Director of
Respiratory Care at New York University Medical Center. During that time he
invented several products that are widely used today. Mr. Landis’ success
with device design paved his way from academics and clinical practice into
the medical device industry. As manager of Research and Development at
Ackrad Laboratories (now Cooper Surgical) for fifteen (15) years he was
responsible for product development in the area of adult and neonatal
respiratory products, wound irrigation and women's health products. He has
brought eleven (11) new products to the market, including three (3) neonatal
medical devices. Robert also has a keen understanding of the development
process and how to get FDA clearance for medical devices. He is the lead
inventor on sixteen (16) patents, and he has another twelve (12) patents
pending.
Charles Lewis, M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Lewis has held the position of Medical Director and senior scientist for
Mergenet Medical, Inc. since its founding early 2004. He has over 20 years
of clinical, managerial and research experience. In addition to managerial
duties, Dr. Lewis is an active member of the product design and development
team, and is responsible for vetting medical devices for possible
development by Mergenet Medical. He brings insight to strategic
relationships between providers, patients and payers of medical care and
equipment, which helps focus the team’s approach to selection and
development of new medical products. Dr. Lewis is a licensed physician and
is board certified in General Preventive Medicine and Public Health. He has
published several peer review publications, and is the inventor or
co-inventor of several medical devices. He completed his residency training
at The University of Alabama at Birmingham where he also earned a Master of
Public Health in Epidemiology. Prior to medical school, Dr. Lewis served in
the U.S. Peace Corps.
Shara Hernandez
Mrs. Hernandez is Co-President of Mergenet
Medical. She co-founded Mergenet Solutions in February, 2000, and was able to show profitability in
less than 4 years. Mergenet Solutions, Inc. now has multiple divisions and
is a highly profitable company. Her expertise in strategic development,
business modeling, marketing and capital development have enabled the
company’s rapid growth and success. Ms. Hernandez has over 20 years of
experience in investment and venture capital management.
Bruce Sher
Mr. Sher is Co-President of Mergenet
Medical and co-founded the
company along with Shara Hernandez, and is active in its management and
direction. Mr. Sher has over 20 years of progressive experience in domestic
and international finance has given the Mergenet group of companies an
invaluable perspective on the future market potential for the firms it
acquires or develops.
Sanjay Chandran
Mr. Chandran is a Managing Consultant for Mergenet Medical, and CEO of
Mergent Solutions. Mr. Chandran’s previous experiance was as a senior
executive with GE Healthcare from 1997 to September 2004 where he served as
an OEM Business Manager. During this time he gained extensive experience in
the healthcare industry, growing a medical device business from $11 million
in annual revenues to over $40 million in just three years. Mr. Chandran has
successfully managed diverse sales, engineering, and manufacturing and
distribution organizations. Mr. Chandran is an inventor with several
patents, and patents pending for medical devices. He holds a Master of
Science in Materials Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and has
Green Belt certification in Six Sigma.
Peter DeCicco
Mr. DeCicco has been with Mergenet Solutions since its inception and is in
charge of shareholder communications in North America, Europe and Australia.
In Addition, Mr. DeCicco coordinates the Physicians Advisory Forum, a group
of 200 distinguished physicians available for consultation to Mergenet
Medical, Inc. from the USA, Canada, and Europe. Prior to joining Mergenet
Solutions, Inc., Mr. DeCicco had ten years experience in the venture capital
field and also has experience as an independent businessman. Mr. DeCicco
holds a degree in Business Communications.
