BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Innomed Technologies, Inc., a
Boca Raton, Florida-based medical technology company for the
respiratory and sleep apnea markets and its parent company, Mergenet
Solutions, accepted their 170th and 171st Idea Forum Medical
Advisory board members. (The Idea Forum is composed of a medical
board, an energy board and a technical board.) Innomed Technologies
launched the FDA-approved Nasal Aire(R) interface, which may
revolutionize the sleep apnea industry, last January.
The newest medical board members to the Idea Forum are Akshay
Mahadevia, M.D., a sleep specialist and Pulmonologist in Davenport,
Iowa, one of the first innovators of CPAP use in pulmonology; and
Lee Brooks, M.D., Pediatric Pulmonary Specialist, Children's
Hospital of Philadelphia.
"I'm excited about the company and about the Nasal Aire(R)
interface, which I use frequently in my practice," said Dr.
Mahadevia. "As a pulmonologist and sleep specialist, I have found
the Nasal Aire to be much more comfortable than other CPAPs for
patients and the feedback has been excellent."
Independent clinical trials were conducted last year for the Nasal
Aire(R), which showed that when patients are given a choice between
using the Nasal Aire(R) or the three leading competitive masks,
manufactured by Resmed, Inc. (NYSE:RMD), Respironics (Nasdaq:RESP),
and Mallinckrodt , 98% of the time the Nasal Aire(R) was chosen.
"I am delighted to serve as a member of the Idea Forum Medical
Board, enabling me to contribute to innovative companies like
Innomed Technologies and Mergenet Solutions," said Bob Coli, M.D., a
specialist based in Warrick, RI, and an Idea Forum member since June
2000. "Contributing to the process of educating physicians and
consumers about revolutionary medical products like the new Nasal
Aire(R) interface, is extremely gratifying."
Kenneth Rotskoff, M.D., an oralmaxillofacial surgeon/facial cosmetic
surgeon in St. Louis and Idea Forum member, said, "The purpose of
the Idea Forum is to make superior products based on professional
experience. As a physician, I rarely have the opportunity to help
develop new medical products, yet through the Idea Forum I take
feedback I receive from patients directly to the company and the
improvements may be implemented."
Bruce Sher, president of Mergenet Solutions, when asked said, "We at
Mergenet Solutions and Innomed Technologies are overwhelmed by the
input and prestige bestowed on us by such an esteemed medical
advisory board."
