BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--January 27, 2004 InnoMed Technologies announced today that
its Nasal Aire II Critical Care device has received clearance from
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Nasal Aire II
Critical Care, a disposable unit introduced in December 2003 for use
in hospital and critical care environments, is based on the highly
successful Nasal-Aire CPAP interface.
'The demand for a disposable critical care interface has been
tremendous and the FDA clearance for this product gives us the green
light to make this product available to hospitals and critical care
settings throughout the U.S.,' said Patrick Karem, C.E.O. of InnoMed
Technologies. 'We expect to garner a large portion of the critical
care CPAP and non-invasive ventilation market this year.'
In addition to introducing the Nasal Aire II Critical Care in 2003,
InnoMed Technologies unveiled its The Nasal Aire II for Obstructive
Sleep Apnea (OSA), an upgrade of the original Nasal-Aire CPAP device
which hit the market in 2002. A new market research report by San
Francisco-based First Albany determined that in slightly more than
one year, InnoMed has cornered 10 percent of the U.S. interface
market.
InnoMed designs, manufactures and markets the innovative Nasal-Aire,
Nasal-Aire II and the Nasal-Aire II Critical Care. Independent
clinical trials have shown that when patients are given a choice
between using the Nasal-Aire or the three leading competitive masks,
manufactured by Resmed, Inc. (NYSE:RMD), Respironics (Nasdaq:RESP),
and Mallinckrodt, 98% of the time Nasal-Aire was chosen.
