Hybrid™ CPAP Mask Awarded New Fee Schedule
August 15, 2007 04:55 PM Eastern Daylight Time
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK,
N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Teleflex Medical announced today that,
effective July 1, 2007, CMS has issued a new fee schedule and HCPC
reimbursement codes for the Hybrid CPAP Mask. The Hybrid is a
revolutionary interface for use with sleep therapy systems in the
treatment of obstructive sleep apnea. Consisting of an oral cushion
that covers the mouth and two nasal pillows that fit into the
nostrils, the Hybrid design simultaneously addresses two common
concerns with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy:
patient comfort and oral leaks. By eliminating the pressure points
across the bridge of the nose and on the forehead, the Hybrid
delivers a more comfortable sleep experience, culminating in better
therapy and a more compliant patient.
The Hybrid HCPC codes issued by CMS are K0553, K0554, K0555, and
A7035.
“We are pleased with the response from
CMS regarding the Hybrid HCPC reimbursement codes. By creating a
brand new CPAP mask category for the Hybrid, CMS is recognizing the
clinical efficacy of this innovative CPAP solution,”
said Tim Hopper, vice president and general manager, Medical
Products business unit of Teleflex Medical.
The Hybrid™ is part of Teleflex Medical’s
existing family of Bravo™ and Nasal-Aire®
II sleep therapy interfaces.
